The story of the author of the world's most famous novel

Joanne Rowling was born in 1965 in England. She adopted a pseudonym, JK, which incorporates Kathleen, her grandmother's name.

A graduate of a major university, she taught English in Portugal and moved to this country in 1990. Rowling met her husband Jorge Arantes who was a journalist in the area. They had a little girl named Jessica. Then they parted ways and Rowling and her daughter moved to Edinburgh to live with her younger sister, Di.

As Rowling is a mother, she must do everything to make her life and that of her daughter work. However, thanks to social assistance, she was able to work and write Harry Potter, her first book. While Rowling was on a train from London to Manchester, she suddenly had an idea for the book.

The author was really having difficulty publishing her book, everyone she approached said no, no and no every time. However, she did not give up and eventually sold the book. The first book was called "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone," and it sold for about $4,000.

For your information, the term "Philosopher" which is found in the title of the book which is original is changed to "Wizard" so that the book is published in America. Harry Potter 1 is therefore the first book followed by a long series of eight books. The book is about the life of Harry Potter who is a young wizard with his motley group of cohorts; and they go to a wizarding school called: Hogwarts .
