Since a young age, Eiichiro Oda has been passionate about Manga. He decided that he would be a mangaka at the age of 4. For him, it's a vocation .
During his adolescence, Eiichiro began writing his first works and won various awards. Between 1992 and 1993, he won the Tezuka 5 Prize (with the short story Wanted), he made his first professional publication in the Jump Original (with the short story A Divine Present) and he won a monthly competition organized by the Weekly Shonen Jump (with the short story A Solitary Demon).
After these successes, he left university to become an assistant to 3 manga artists at Weekly Shonen Jump . He discovered the profession of professional mangaka and wrote to release Monsters in 1994 and Romance Dawn in 1996.
In 1997, Eiichiro Oda found success with the first chapter of One Piece in Weekly Shonen Jump. It's a series that quickly reached the level of popularity of Dragon Ball.
Eichiro Oda's first Manga, One Piece, is still in progress 20 years later. It still represents the majority of the author's working time today.
